Recipe # 7 - Gluten-free chocolate cereal puffs!

Gluten-free chocolate cereal puffs

We love cereals.
And we LOVE chocolate cereal puffs.
But the sad truth is that they cost a pretty penny...
So, why not try to make it cheaper with gluten-free flour at home? :)

n.b. This was inspired by the following recipe:
Homemade chocolate cereal puffs that won't put you in a sugar coma
Thank you Mrs. Gina Matsoukas! :)

Ingredients

80g of GF cocoa or hot chocolate powder
230g of ASDA Self Raising Flour Blend
3 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon of sunflower oil
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 egg
A pinch of salt

+ 1 tbs. of milk (if it is still too dry)
+ A lot of patience - to make 163 balls (4 bowls of cereal) for 1 hour**

* I highly recommend to prepare some e-books or audio-visual entertainment that you can scroll down with your pinky while you make the balls :)

〜 Price Comparison 〜

Homemade Gluten-free Chocolate Cereal Puffs
(Flour: £0.34/Hot chocolate powder: £0.48/Egg: £0.15)
Total: £0.97 (4 servings)
£0.24/per serving

&
Total: £3.00 (9 servings)
£0.33/per serving

According to this, homemade cereal is indeed cheaper, but considering the time and effort you have to put into just making 4 servings of these chocolate cereal puffs, I might prefer to get them from health shops in the future.

Nonetheless, though it is not as puffy as other cereals on the market, this is absolutely delicious & filling & healthy as we can adjust the sweetness :)

I'll keep them in the fridge :)

Cheers!
